FINALLY, FEBRUARY
Yes, January, good try! You came and you went. And actually, for me you weren’t bad. Dare I say it, you were good to me? January gave me the reminder to be as gentle and slow and the magnolia buds that were sent out for those who bought the monthly delivery, to enjoy the cold crisp air, to follow and make stunning vegan nutritious dinners, enjoyed some best pals birthdays AND it gave me time and energy to clear and clean out my studio and van!

VALENTINE’S DAY, WHATS UP?
Right, so as I move to as seasonal as possible I have so many ideas of what to do this Valentine’s Day- baskets of blooms, planters, candles, just biting my tongue and buying roses, send outs of dry blooms- NO! None of them were right.
This year I am sticking to truly seasonal.
Buying three months of seasonal monthly deliveries. I’ve had a beautiful postcard designed by collage artist Jen Bailey that will be sent out with every order. Present them with a stunning card, and have your valentine (galentine, palentine, family-entine) get excited for three lots of deliveries coming up with insanely beautiful locally grown blooms. I really love this idea, and hope you do too.
WHY DO YOU ALWAYS BANG ON ABOUT SEASONAL? IT’S BORING.
I get it. The world is tough enough, why do I always have to bring up that some flowers aren’t great for us to buy? WHO CARES, ELOÏSE?!
Thing is, I started GARAGE florals because I was looking at working with eco friendly mechanics, seasonal foliage and flowers and generally try and be ever so slightly more environmentally focused. This isn’t because I think my small flower business is going to change the world, but it’s something I HAVE ALWAYS believed in. By buying from local farmers and trying to buy seasonally, it allows my process of making weddings, events and even bouquets way more mindful. I have to know what’s going to be in season, what’s going to last, what is genuinely the best stems to use for you. It’s a professional and expert opinion and knowledge.
Essentially, I want my flower business to not only allow us to see what banging flowers we can grow close to home, but in the simplest way.. not to add to climate change (thing is I’m nowhere near being fully sustainable, don’t think a flower business can actually be 100% sustainable. Correct me though please!). Having to do two weddings last year in 42 degree heat FREAKED me out. Plus, the pesticides on imported flowers can be really awful for you, not to preach, but if you do buy supermarket flowers (which is FINE, I buy my food from the supermarket), just wear gloves or wash your hands. Just like you’d wash your food.
I’m aiming to do a little short videos about GARAGE’s push to be more seasonal, eco friendly, sustainable. it’s going to take a long time, but baby steps are important and they are the only steps I am capable of. My main aim is for you guys to read this, be informed, make your own decisions and get back to me with your opinions! I am not here to preach, by any means. I still buy food from the supermarket, in plastic and mangoes when I’m craving them. So, this is mainly conversation starters and helpful information too.
